Maintaining Trust in the Process

Maintaining (v.): cause or enable (a condition or state of affairs) to continue. Keep in good condition or in working order by checking or repairing it regularly.

Being a Christian, or a believer, does not promise an easy life free of trials and tribulations. However, because we are a part of God’s family, it does promise a way through them with the Creator of the universe beside you. Because you are now God’s beloved son or daughter, you can boldly ask Him for help during times of trouble (1 John 5:14 NIV).

Another misconception of being a Christian can be that because we are going through rough patches in our lives, we must be doing something “wrong.” Whether it be as a Christian or in our daily lives. This is also untrue. Sometimes, life is going to do what life does and you and I have no control over it. What we do have control over is our trust and faith in God to see us through the problems life can try to throw our way. This is how we maintain our trust in the process. During this time, the devil wants to distract you. This can be done by letting your focus shift from God and His promises and only seeing the trials that are in front of you. While keeping our faith, we must remain patient.

In the Bible, Daniel waited 3 weeks for an answer from God, but he remained faithful and stayed where God already had him. This can be a great example to us today on what to do while we’re waiting. During those three weeks, it can be easy to let doubt, worry, and fear creep in. You can see deadlines and due dates are rapidly approaching, but you’ve prayed and declared financial prosperity over your life already and you’re still waiting to see that physically manifest. Your choice would either be to panic and take matters into your own hands without consulting God, or to keep being patient and continuing to do the last thing He’s told you to do.

You are precious to God. That means you are taken care of. He’s keeping you close to Him and if you’re lost, He’s looking for you. While you are maintaining your trust in the process, God is maintaining His promises to you that you cannot be denied!

“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” (1 John 5:14 NIV)
